Celebrating Mary McKnight’s Ten Years of Faithful Service
A decade of working at a thrift store can be just that, but for Mary, it was an opportunity to restore lives, create purpose, and make a lasting impact on men and women in recovery.
Mary McKnight joined the Jericho Road Ministries team at our thrift store on Wiscon Road 10 years ago. As store manager, she has dedicated countless hours to supporting our mission of walking alongside our neighbors in recovery. We are thrilled to celebrate her 10-year benchmark of faithful service.
Over the years, Mary has witnessed and been a part of change in the ministry. Jericho Road Ministries pivoted our focus to long-term recovery support for men and women in need, as we have found that extended time is fundamental to rebuilding life after active addiction. Mary has seen the benefits of a long-term, focused recovery program reflected in the lives of the residents she works with. Men and women come into the recovery program broken, lost, and without purpose; their stories are unknown and often overlooked. Mary, along with other staff from our six thrift store locations, play a crucial part in supporting our mission to walk alongside those looking for healing.
Store managers work with many of our residents as they participate in work therapy, and they have a significant impact by listening to, guiding, and understanding them. This work experience helps our residents not only learn essential skills but also build a firm foundation for their recovery. They gain purpose in their work and, most importantly, find a team that supports them and listens to their stories as they begin their recovery journey. At the 3-month mark of the program, residents are eligible to apply for jobs, which can grant them a sense of belonging and helps them work toward rebuilding their lives, free from homelessness and addiction. At our Wiscon store, 70% of Mary’s team is made up of current residents or graduates of the recovery program!
“This is my second home!
I love the little part that I get to play…
coming to work and knowing that I'm making a difference in somebody's life”
Mary's hard work, care, and steadfast dedication have blessed our organization immensely, and we are so grateful to have her on our team. The work she has put in over the past 10 years has forever changed the lives of those who trust Jericho Road Ministries to help them in their recovery journeys. Mary’s passion for her work and her recognition of the growth Jericho Road Ministries has seen are major motivators for her continued commitment, and we are fortunate to have her ongoing support.
Mary is a gift to our organization and to the community in so many ways, but most importantly, she has devoted years to walking alongside our residents, impacting men's and women's recovery journeys, and showing the love of Christ at every step.
