The Story Behind Jericho Road Ministries
Our name comes from the parable of the “Good Samaritan,” told by Jesus in Luke 10. A man is robbed,
beaten, and left for dead on the road to Jericho. He is ignored by several people unwilling to help, until a
Samaritan man (a cultural enemy at the time) took notice of him, giving up time and resources to restore
him to health. Like the Samaritan man in the story, we desire to be an organization that notices, cares
for, encourages, and empowers those who have nowhere else to turn.
A Brand Built on People
One great tangible way of connecting with donors, social media followers, ministry partners, churches, and
other organizations is to make our leadership widely visible. Strategies such as posting more photos and
videos of our CEO and VP’s, sharing stories highlighting various staff members, and continued presence
at community events help to establish trust and show that Jericho is an active and vibrant ministry.
Additionally, promotional content for Jericho should regularly feature stories and quotes from individuals
who have stayed in our centers, have received assistance from our Food Barn, have been through our
recovery program, or have served as volunteers. Frequent reminders of the personal impact that Jericho
has in people’s lives is one of the most powerful forms of advertising.
Our brand is built on people - people whose lives are changed for the better, people who give of their time
and resources, and people who come together from all situations to represent the body of Christ.
