Mary's House opened it's doors to the very
first clients. The 1st annual Joy FM bike ride
took place on Feb. 16th.

Final preparations are finished at Mary's
House.

The 10th annual Christmas Eve Luncheon was a

Our 3rd thrift store located in Ridge Manor
opened on Nov.14th.

Mary’s House Fundraiser held during Papa Joe’s

Renovation begins on Howell Avenue property.

Brooksville for the new women’s shelter.

First formal graduation dinner for men
completing the Nine-Month Recovery Program.

Prestige Homes/Bill Bourguignon replaced entire
roof on the Men’s Shelter.

Cortez Store began to expand the Book Dept. with
the hope of one day having the entire Cortez
Store selling used books.
February 2006
A thrift store is opened on the Wiscon Road
property. The Ministry is now operating two
thrift stores.
November 2005
Leadership Hernando donates cargo van for the
thrift store operations.
August 2005
Leadership Hernando takes on Jericho Road
Ministries as their project of support for the
coming year. Community support begins to swell
quickly as they begin working with business,
government and civic leaders in bringing a
Family Shelter to Hernando County.
June 2005
Two new professional staff are employed to work
at the Men's Shelter. One man is a trained
family psychologist with a Doctorate in Family
Counseling from Tulane University. The other
staff chaplain has over 20 years Rescue Mission
experience having worked at the Detroit Rescue
Mission and the Memphis Union Mission.
April 12, 2005
Site work crews begin the clearing of property
on Wiscon Road for our new Thrift Store. The
project is officially under construction.
February 2005
A Dedication Service and Ground Breaking
ceremony is conducted at the Wiscon Road site.
Local churches, business people, volunteers,
staff and the Greater Hernando Chamber of
Commerce attend this morning event.
October 2004
NP Construction is selected as our builder for
the new store building. CenterState Bank agrees
to loan us the funds to build the project.
Documents are signed and the work will commence
as permits are approved.
February 2004
Pasco-Hernando Community College partners with
Jericho Road Men's Shelter to begin offering GED
classes, tutoring and testing on-line via the
Internet. Withlacoochee River Electric donates
computers and helps to set up our new Computer
GED Lab.
January 29, 2004
Jericho Road purchases a duplex to be used for
graduating clients as a transitional home.
Renovations continue and our first graduate
moves in by June 2004.
May 2003
Nicholson Engineering begins developing plans
for our new thrift store at the Wiscon Road
site.
February 2003
The Veterans Administration office in the county
donates a used 15-passenger van to be used for
transporting clients.
June 2002
Purchase a used box truck for the thrift store
operations. The old truck is sold in September.
May 2002
Renovations of the Shelter garage are
completed. The space is converted into two
offices and a chapel area for worship or client
classes. The remaining space in the house is
converted to sleeping areas. Bed space expands
to 14 beds.
January 2002
A local family donates their Mini-van to the
mission for transporting clients.
Survey work begins on the Wiscon Road property.
Jericho Road begins providing Emergency Shelter
for women and families at local area motels.
December 2001
Ten acres of property are purchased on Wiscon
Road for the future site of the Mission Thrift
Store and Shelter buildings. One day a Family
Shelter will be constructed.
October 1, 2000
The Mission is launched. The Men's shelter opens
and we begin with our first client on October
15th, a man named Ron S. Before the end of the
month we have four men in shelter.
The Thrift Store opens its doors to the public
on October 1st. Donations continue to pour into
that location.
September 2000
We locate a retail space for our new Thrift
Store in Midway Plaza, Highway 50, between
Spring Hill and Brooksville. The lease is signed
and the set up of the store begins.
I am put in touch with a man who would become
our shelter worker. He agrees to come and work
at the Men's Shelter.
June 2000
Renovations are completed on the shelter. We
begin looking for a Shelter worker to assist me
in operations. We also begin looking for a site
to open a thrift store to sell the enormous
amount of donations coming in to the ministry.
November 15, 1999
Purchased the commercial property at 1090 Mondon
Hill Road to become our first Men's Homeless
Shelter. Renovation begins on the property. Yard
sales continue at the proposed shelter site
through September 2000 to pay for renovations
and provide for the ministry.
June 1999
Awarded $100,000 by Daystar Hope Center to
start a Family Shelter Program in Hernando
County.
January 1999
Faith Evangelical Presbyterian Church commits
$30,000 of operational funds for the coming
year.
December 1998
Incorporated Jericho Road Ministries as a
non-profit dedicated to shelter programs for
men, women and children.
May 1998
Church plant fails. The summer is spent in
prayer seeking God's guidance for my ministry.
Ron, Dave and I are put in touch with Frank
Bierwiler and Lisa Barabas-Henry in hopes of
moving her shelter to Hernando County behind
Daystar Hope Center's thrift store. Discussions
with Lisa fail to bring about a move. Public
outcry against a proposed shelter on his site
doom the project with Daystar's involvement. By
December, I receive the encouragement and
support of Frank and Ron to incorporate Jericho
Road Ministries to carry forward the vision for
this ministry.
October 1997
Hired as staff for Faith Evangelical
Presbyterian Church to plant a church in Spring
Hill
Seminary Graduation: May 1997
After five years of study and commuting to
Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, I
graduated with a Masters of Divinity degree. I
spent the summer looking for ministry work and
hoping some how to be involved with a homeless
ministry. |
